Intense Ltd HPD Series 6100: 980-nm single-emitter laser diodes features quantum-well-intermixing technology
Using quantum-well-intermixing technology, the 980-nm, high-power HPD Series 6100 single-emitter laser diodes provide as much as 200 mW of power. The process increases the quantum-well bandgap of a semiconductor laser in a controlled manner, allowing the creation of active and passive sections in the same laser cavity. The process creates the passive nonabsorbing mirrors in the facet regions of the cavities and avoids catastrophic-optical-mirror damage that typical laser devices frequently encounter. The devices have wavelengths of 980±5 and 980±10 nm, and additional wavelengths are available on request. Available in 5.6- and 9-mm and C-mount packages, the HPD Series 6100 costs $200.
